There's much to be admired
in those idyllic, one-horse towns,
with their modest populations
and their rural nature sounds.
The people seem to get around
at underwhelming speeds,
and the local merchants satisfy
the patrons' simple needs.
The life theme is simplicity,
lived at a slower pace,
as opposed to urban culture,
which is more a daily race.
A perfect day is sunny,
sitting outside in the shade,
and with your best friend at your side,
you watch the daylight fade.
Most destinations are nearby,
at times a simple walk;
the perfect place to savour time
and have a simple talk.
The one-horse towns have been so-named
with "small farm" connotations.
There's even time to smell a rose
and greet your expectations.
A splendid place to see and live,
for someone who is able;
ironically, somewhere in town,
you'll find a one-horse stable!
